01 Who we are
TrueReels is an iOS app published by FTP Travel LLC ("TrueReels", "we", "us"). This policy explains, in plain English, what the TrueReels app collects, why, where it is kept, and what you can ask us to do with it.
- Legal entity: FTP Travel LLC
- App: TrueReels for iPhone, bundle identifier com.truereels.app

02 What we collect
2.1 Information you give us — none is required
This version of TrueReels has no user accounts. There is no sign-up screen, no sign-in screen and no profile. The app never asks you for an email address, a password, a name, a phone number, a date of birth or any other personal detail, and there is no field anywhere in it in which you could supply one. You can install the app and watch it without identifying yourself to us in any way.
The only way you can send us personal information is by choosing to write to us.
| Data | Why we have it |
|---|---|
| Support correspondence | If you email support@truereels.app, privacy@truereels.app or legal@truereels.app, we keep your message and our reply so we can answer you. Your email address reaches us only because you chose to write from it — the app never sends it. |
2.2 Your device's anonymous identifier
The first time you open TrueReels, the app asks our backend for an anonymous identifier — a random value that identifies your installation of the app and nothing else. It is not derived from your device's hardware, your Apple ID, your phone number or any advertising identifier, and it cannot be traced back to you by us or by anyone else.
| Data | Why we have it |
|---|---|
| Anonymous identifier | So that your watch progress and saved list come back when you reopen the app, and so that our database can keep your rows separate from everyone else's. It is also the identifier we give our subscription provider, so that a purchase can be matched to the installation that made it. |
The identifier and the security token that goes with it are held in the iOS Keychain on your device. Because it belongs to the installation rather than to you, deleting the app or using Reset saved data ends it permanently — see section 7.
2.3 Information created by using the app
All of it is stored against the anonymous identifier described above, never against a person.
| Data | Why we have it |
|---|---|
| Watch progress | The episode, how far into it you got, and whether you finished it — so "Continue watching" and "Resume" put you back where you stopped, and so an episode can be marked watched. |
| Saved items ("My List") | Which series you saved, so your list is still there when you reopen the app. |
| Subscription status | Whether the installation holds an active subscription, so the app knows which episodes to unlock. It comes from Apple through our subscription provider — see section 4. |
Because progress and My List belong to the anonymous identifier held on your device, they do not follow you to another device, and they do not survive deleting the app. That is a consequence of not having accounts, and it is the trade we have made deliberately in this version.
2.4 Technical and diagnostic information
| Data | Why we have it |
|---|---|
| Crash reports | To find and fix bugs. If you have Apple's "Share With App Developers" setting turned on, Apple sends us crash logs and performance data. Apple aggregates this and we do not tie it to your identity. You can turn it off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. |
| Server logs | IP address, request time and device/OS version, kept briefly by our backend and video providers for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting. |
03 What we do not collect
To be explicit, because this is the part most apps are vague about:
- No account, and therefore no account data. No email address, no password, no username, no profile, no name, no date of birth, no phone number. The app has no screen that asks for any of them.
- No contact information of any kind, unless you write to us yourself.
- No device fingerprinting. The anonymous identifier in section 2.2 is a random
value issued by our backend. We do not collect your device's serial number, IMEI, MAC address,
identifierForVendoror any hardware identifier. - No advertising. The app contains no ads and no ad SDKs.
- No advertising identifiers. We do not request or use the IDFA, and we do not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we do not track you.
- No third-party analytics or attribution SDKs. There is no analytics SDK in the app building a profile of you.
- No tracking across other companies' apps or websites, in the sense Apple defines "tracking".
- No sale or rental of personal data, ever. We do not share your data with data brokers.
- No microphone, camera, contacts, photos, health or precise location access. The app does not ask for these permissions.
- No card numbers, bank details or billing addresses. Apple handles that — see section 4.
04 Payments and subscriptions
Subscriptions to TrueReels are sold only through Apple's In-App Purchase system.
- Apple collects and processes your payment. We never see your card number, security code, billing address or bank details.
- We receive a signal that a subscription is active, in trial, cancelled or expired, along with the renewal date and the product identifier, and we store it so the app knows which episodes to unlock. Access to the full catalog is granted by a single entitlement, all_access.
- Our subscription provider, RevenueCat, links the Apple purchase to your installation of the app. The only identifier it holds for you is the anonymous identifier from section 2.2 — not your name, not your email address, and no advertising or device-tracking identifier. We do not receive your Apple ID.
- Because the subscription is tied to your Apple ID at Apple's end, Restore Purchases works without an account: signing in to the App Store with the same Apple ID is all that is needed.
- Apple's own handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's privacy policy, not this one.
- Refunds and billing disputes are handled by Apple. See our Terms for how to request one.
05 Where your data is stored, and who processes it
Your progress and saved list live in our Supabase backend (managed PostgreSQL with its built-in authentication service, which is what issues the anonymous identifier). Row-level security is enabled, so each installation can read and write only the rows carrying its own anonymous identifier — one installation cannot read another's progress, saved list or subscription record.
| Provider | Handles | Sees personal data? |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | Payment processing, App Store delivery, opt-in crash analytics | Yes — under Apple's own policy |
| Supabase | Database and anonymous-identity hosting for your progress, saved list and subscription record | As our processor — anonymous identifier only, no contact details |
| RevenueCat | Maps the Apple subscription to your installation so entitlements work | Anonymous identifier and subscription state only |
| Mux | Delivers the video stream to your device | Playback requests and standard connection data; no account profile |
| Cloudflare R2 | Stores our master video files and artwork | No user data |
Data may be stored and processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. Where required, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards.
06 How long we keep it
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Watch progress and saved list | Until you use Reset saved data, which deletes them immediately. Otherwise they are kept while the anonymous identifier is in use, and deleted after 24 months with no activity |
| Anonymous identifier | Retired as soon as you reset it or delete the app. Retired identifiers are removed on the same 24-month schedule |
| Subscription records | While the subscription is active, plus up to 7 years where needed for tax and accounting records |
| Crash and diagnostic data | Retained per Apple's schedule; we keep no separate copy tied to your identity |
| Server logs | Typically 30–90 days, per our providers' standard retention |
| Support correspondence | 24 months from the last message in the thread |
Reset saved data on the You screen does not wait for any of these schedules: it deletes your progress and saved list from our database at the moment you confirm it. Anything we hold outside that — support emails you sent us, and transaction records we are legally required to keep — is covered by the rows above.
07 Your rights and choices
7.1 Erasing your data yourself, in the app
Because there is no account, there is nothing to close — but there is still data held against your device's anonymous identifier, and you can destroy all of it yourself without asking us:
You screen → Reset saved data. Confirm, and the app deletes every watch-progress row and every saved-series row carrying your anonymous identifier, then discards the identifier itself and its Keychain token. Your device is issued a new anonymous identifier that has no link to the old one, so nothing that came before can be reassociated with you. The app tells you whether the reset succeeded.
Deleting the app from your iPhone also destroys the identifier and its token, because they live in the Keychain entry belonging to the app. The rows left behind are then unreachable by anyone, including us, and are removed on the schedule in section 6.
Neither action cancels your subscription. A subscription belongs to your Apple ID, not to us — cancel it in Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
7.2 Rights you can exercise by writing to us
Wherever you live, you can:
- Access — ask for a copy of the data we hold against your anonymous identifier.
- Correct — ask us to fix data that is wrong.
- Delete — use Reset saved data in the app, which is immediate and needs no request; or email us and we will do it for you.
- Object or restrict — ask us to stop a particular use of your data.
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent — where we relied on consent, withdraw it at any time.
One honest limitation: because we hold nothing that identifies you as a person, we can only act on an access, correction or portability request if you can tell us the anonymous identifier concerned. We are not able to find "your" data from your name or email address, because we never had either. This is a consequence of collecting as little as we do, and it is why the in-app reset exists.
If you are in the EEA or UK, the legal bases we rely on are performance of a contract (delivering the app and your subscription), legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and fixing bugs) and legal obligation (tax and accounting records).
If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
To make any request, email privacy@truereels.app. We respond within 30 days. For anything that would disclose or change stored data we will ask you for the anonymous identifier it belongs to, so that nobody can request data that is not theirs.
08 Children's privacy
TrueReels is not directed to children under 13, is not submitted to the App Store Kids Category, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app covers historical, criminal and disaster subject matter intended for teenage and adult viewers.
The app collects no personal information from anyone, of any age — there is no field in which a child could enter a name, an email address or anything else. If you are concerned about data held against a child's device, use Reset saved data on the You screen, or email privacy@truereels.app and we will erase it promptly. Parents and guardians can use Apple's Screen Time and Ask to Buy controls to manage downloads and purchases. We comply with the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) on this basis.
09 Security
- Traffic between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS).
- Data at rest in our backend is encrypted by the hosting provider.
- There are no passwords to steal, because there are no accounts. The app ships with no user credentials in it.
- Your device's session token is held in the iOS Keychain, which is encrypted by the system and not readable by other apps.
- Row-level security confines every read and write to the rows carrying that installation's own anonymous identifier.
- Access to production data is restricted to authorised personnel and service accounts.
- Video playback uses short-lived signed URLs, so a stream link cannot be shared or reused indefinitely.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant regulator where the law requires it.
10 Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and publish the new version at the same URL. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect — we have no email address for you, so the app is the only place we can. Continuing to use TrueReels after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
If a future version introduces accounts or sign-in, that will be described here, and in the App Store privacy label, before it ships — and it will ship with a way to delete the account from inside the app.
Any new category of data will appear in this policy, and in the App Store privacy label, before it is collected.
