TRUEREELS

Short cinematic documentaries

Two minutes.One true story.

TrueReels is a streaming app of short documentary episodes — ninety seconds to two minutes each, grouped into series that run in order. Poisonings, lost aircraft, Cold War tunnels, the fall of Rome. Every factual claim is checked against a source we located and can show you.

The research standard

A claim is not a fact
until we can quote
the page that says so

Short-form video is full of confident narration nobody checked. Our pipeline is built the other way round: the evidence comes first, and the script may not say anything the evidence does not support.

01 / GATHER

Archive first

Every subject runs a deterministic archive lane — national archives, Library of Congress, court and inquiry records, contemporaneous newspapers, peer-reviewed literature, museum catalogues — alongside general research. Half the fetch budget is reserved for primary material so an encyclopedia cluster cannot crowd it out.

02 / LOCATE

Quote, not vibes

Each fact must carry a verbatim quote, and that quote is mechanically located in the text of the page it is attributed to. If the sentence is not on the page, the fact is rejected — no model gets a vote on that.

03 / CORROBORATE

Independent domains

Facts are tiered by how many independent domains support them and by the class of source. Social posts, forums and content farms are never fetched, never quotable and never count as corroboration.

04 / SHOW YOUR WORK

Sources in the app

The citations behind an episode are in the app, on the episode, where you can tap them. Reenactment imagery is labelled as reenactment — it dramatises documented events and is never presented as footage of them.
